10/10/2026 – $125 – Finger Carving 101 on a Tapered Belt – Denny Lowe

In this workshop, we will size and prepare a 1-1/2" tapered belt blank.

To gain confidence, we will use our swivel knife to cut a wave and finger carve a pattern on some scrap belt pieces.

After some practice, we will use the knowledge and experience we've just gained to cut the same pattern on the full length of our prepared belt blank.

When all the carving is complete, we will bevel, burnish, edge, oil, resist, antique, and topcoat our pieces.

To complete the belt, we will set snaps and install the buckles.

All skill levels are welcome!

All day class Saturday.

Class size: 10

All materials will be sponsored by Springfield Leather Company

You will need to bring:

Tooling stone or small anvil

Water Spray Bottle

Cutting Tool (round knife, box knife, whatever you are comfortable with)

Wing Divider

Swivel knife with straight blade (not an angled blade) and strop

Ball point stylus

Edge Beveler (#2 recommended)

Mallet or maul
