About the Illinois Valley Leather Guild

Founded in the 1960s, we are a welcoming community of leathercraft enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels, dedicated to hands-on learning, creativity, and shared craftsmanship.

Founded in the 1960s, the Illinois Valley Leather Guild (IVLG) is a welcoming community of leathercraft enthusiasts dedicated to developing artisan skills through hands-on creativity and shared learning. Our members range in age from 4 to 89, proving that leathercraft is a lifelong art open to everyone—from beginners to seasoned artisans.

As a member of the International Federation of Leather Guilds (IFoLG), the IVLG is part of a global network of leatherworking enthusiasts and experts. This affiliation provides our members with opportunities for collaboration, skill development, and knowledge sharing through international workshops, seminars, conferences, and educational resources.

Our participation in IFoLG also brings international exposure and recognition to our guild, allowing members to showcase their craftsmanship through competitions, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges. The IFoLG competitions welcome all skill levels, encouraging creativity, personal expression, and growth rather than just winning. Each entry contributes to celebrating the diversity and artistry of leathercraft worldwide.

We meet at Mabuhay Leather Craft’s Store in Northwoods Mall, Peoria, Illinois, on the third Saturday of each month @ 3pm. Visitors and new members are always welcome to join us in learning, creating, and celebrating the art of leathercraft.
